About IEEC
The International Education Exchange Council (IEEC) is a San Francisco State University (SF State) student organization dedicated to intercultural exchange. As SF State's largest student organization, the IEEC hosts hundreds of events each year that connect J-1 exchange students studying at SF State with U.S. students and other international students who want to share their cultural perspectives. Together they form the IEEC.
Additionally, IEEC is first and foremost a service and non-profit organization working closely with SF State's Division of International Education (DoIE). IEEC aids DoIE in the promotion and implementation of a variety of international education events, including the International Student Orientation, Study Abroad Fair and International Education Week. IEEC also has a non-profit status and works to support the community and raise scholarships for American students to study abroad.
The IEEC is overseen by two presidents (an international student on a J-1 visa and a student who has studied abroad previously). The leadership also includes nine committee chairs and a treasurer; they are also supported by staff advisors from the Division of International Education.
IEEC's constitution guides the organization on its purpose, membership, governing structure and elections.
Our Mission
The International Education Exchange Council maintains a goal of encouraging international education, student exchange and study abroad at SF State. The council also encourages the sharing of cultures between international and domestic students at SF State.
“Joining the IEEC is the best way for an international student to build lasting friendships and experience the best of America.”

“The beautiful thing about the IEEC is we are constantly evolving to push the organization forward. There is no limit to where it can go.”
