Have a question about IEEC?
It might be answered below. If you cannot find your question, please feel free to email the International Education Exchange Council (IEEC) at ieec@mail.sfsu.edu or follow us on Instagram.
No, all SF State students are welcome to join and participate in the International Education Exchange Council's (IEEC) events. Those who are interested in having a say in the organization and helping with the planning and leading of IEEC, should become an officer and join a committee.
Follow us on Instagram. This is the best way to learn about upcoming events. We also have a Facebook page each semester with additional information.
Also, stop by the International Education Exchange Council (IEEC) table in the center of campus in front of the Cesar Chavez Student Center. See the Country Ambassador page and check out the weekly IEEC/Study Abroad tabling sections for more details on days and times.
Becoming an officer is a great way to have a voice in the decision-making process and be a leader.
- Review the different IEEC committees to see which ones you would like to join.
- If you would like to join, please email for next steps:
- International students should email exchange@sfsu.edu.
- American students should email studyabroad@sfsu.edu.
The International Education Exchange Council (IEEC) has two presidents each semester. The International IEEC President must be a student studying at SF State on a J-1 student visa. The Domestic IEEC President must be a degree-seeking student (American or F-1 student) who has previously studied abroad on an SF State Abroad Program for at least a semester.
At the beginning of each semester, an election will be held at the International Education Exchange Council (IEEC) Officer's Retreat. This generally takes place on the first Saturday after the start of the fall or spring semester. Details will be posted in advance on Instagram. You can also email studyabroad@sfsu.edu to learn more. You must attend the retreat in person to run and then be elected by your peers to be president.
If you a full-time degree-seeking student (including F-1 visa holders), please reach out to the SF State Abroad website and database.
(Note: CPaGE students can only participate in a CPaGE study abroad program and should reach out to CPaGE for more information.)
Please feel free to email studyabroad@sfsu.edu and they would be happy to answer any questions. Information is also posted on Instagram.
The IEEC Language Exchange is a great opportunity to teach or learn a language other than English. Each language exchange meets weekly either in person or online. The leader is responsible for updating the time and location online through Facebook and Instagram. You can always reach out to the leader directly on the IEEC Language Exchange page.
