Overview

Join IEEC! We are currently looking for new officers—and we are also inviting candidates to run for IEEC President. If you are interested in taking on a leadership role, this is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen your leadership skills, grow your network, and make a real impact. In additional to great leadership skills, you would get to meet a lot of international students. IEEC is run by 2 presidents: one is a domestic student who tudied abroad for at least a semester and the other is an international student studying here on exchange from one of our partner universities.

The officers are the organizers and planners for the club. They hold weekly meetings to plan, but it also gives you an opportunity to meet with international students and Americans to make connections through these meetings and events. Each officer joins a committee.

Social Committee: We are responsible for International Education Exchange Council's (IEEC) regular social gatherings. You will seek out the best deals for members at local venues and plan events that allow IEEC members to connect and build lasting friendships. As a member of the Social Events Committee, you will be the first to know about social gatherings and what's new and exciting in San Francisco. You will also learn how to negotiate with businesses and plan large events. Examples of Past Events:

  • Thank God It's Thursday (Thirsty Thursdays)
  • See You Saturday
  • Spark Social Meetup
  • Picnic in Dolores Park or Golden Gate Park
  • Bonfire on the beach

Sports Committee: We unite people through sports. Whether this is watching a game in good company, hosting competitions or testing out a new trampoline park, we will organize it. Reach out to fellow sports enthusiasts and businesses and create events. You will be inspired to keep active and promote health at SF State. With us, you will be able to organize events that bring out regional pride in people. Examples of Past Events:

  • Yoga class in Golden Gate Park
  • Mashouf
    • Rock climbing wall
    • Baseball game
    • Tennis matches
    • Badminton tournament
    • Dodgeball
  • Intramural sports
  • Giants game

Finance Committee: We manage the financial assets and ensure the growth of the International Education Exchange Council (IEEC). We raise money for Study Abroad Scholarships, allocate money for IEEC events and safeguard the resources of the organization. You will plan fundraising activities and keep records of money raised and financial requests from other committees. Additionally, you will record and safeguard IEEC's income and expenditures, which makes it a very important committee within IEEC. With this committee, you will gain valuable experience in handling money responsibility and planning for the financial growth of a large organization. This will be particularly useful for everyone, but especially those interested in a career in management, finance or accounting. Examples of Past Events:

  • Pie in the face
  • Work with organizations or companies for donations

Marketing Committee: We publicize International Education Exchange Council (IEEC) events and promote the organization on campus. This team is responsible for the social media content, including Facebook and Instagram (@sfsuieec). We coordinate and distribute flyers and banners for specific events. We also collaborate with all committees to produce promotional materials. In this team, you will have the chance to work creatively and strategically. You will have a vast number of opportunities to gain valuable experiences in marketing and public relations. Examples of Past Events:

  • Instagram takeovers
  • IEEC promo videos

Executive Committee: We are the administration backbone of the organization. We are responsible for running the International Education Exchange Council (IEEC) office and supporting the various committees. We communicate with the committee chairs regularly and support the presidents of the organization in the smooth and successful running of the IEEC. Within this committee, you will gain a high level of leadership and administrative experience, as well as being aware of and involved in everything that IEEC has to offer. You will have the opportunity to learn how to manage people and their projects swiftly.

If you are interested in joining IEEC as an officer and/or running for co-president, then please join the IEEC Officers' Retreat on Friday, August 22nd at 1 p.m. in the Library, room 121. This will be the first meeting of the semester and kick everything off including voting on IEEC president, Treasurer, and committee chairs.
